The ICSSR sponsored two-day national seminar titled Emergence of Bharat its Significance, Challenges and way Forward took place at the serene campus of Dispur Law college, Guwahati on 1st and 2nd March 2024. The seminar is organised by Heritage Foundation in collaboration with Dispur Law College, Dispur, Guwahati.
The first day of the seminar commenced with an inaugural ceremony in which present were Dr. Anand Paliwal, Member, Law Commission of India as Keynote Speaker, Prof. Dhananjay Singh, Member Secretary as Chief Guest, Mr Binod Jain, Secretary of Heritage Foundation and Prof. R.C. Borpatra Gohain, Governing Body President, Dispur Law College, invited guests, research scholar and students. With the lighting of lamp coupled with a Deep Mantra, commenced the ceremonial inauguration of the national seminar and thereafter the august guests on dice were felicitated accordingly.
The Vice Principal of Dispur Law College and Convenor of the Seminar Dr. Swapna M. Deka read out the aims and objectives of the seminar before the audience after which the guests on dice addressed the gathering one by one, with profound eloquence.
Secretary of Heritage Foundation Mr Binod Kr Jain spoke about the objectives behind the formation of the Trust in the year2001 and the diverse set of activities conducted by the organisation in the couple of decades so far.
In his keynote address, Dr. Anand Paliwal referred to the various ingenious works of Indian minds that transcend barriers in fields such as science, astronomy, philosophy, literature etc. The crux of the Indian civilisation, the Indian education system, had long been sidelined by the Imperialist British powers for the strengthening of their imperialist agenda and western education system was put in place of the former. This, of course, resulted in the decadence of the soul of Bharatiya civilisation. The resultant inferiority complex reflected in the centuries old perception of the English language and European practices being superior to that of Bharat. Dr. Paliwal referred to the spread of false narratives, especially through AI, that work against the spirit of Bharat. The multidiverse orientation of the nation is a blessing worth preserving and with necessary reforms, Bharat possesses the potential to emerge as a global superpower. Dr Dhananjay Singh highlighted the importance of North East Bharat. How the present government promoting north east through the development project.
A total of 8 academic sessions were conducted in the two day seminar – 4 parallel session each in a day. The seminar received 102 abstracts and 72 full papers out of which 70 papers were selected for presentation. Papers were received from different law college of Assam like Dispur Law College, NEF Law College, Nalbari Law College, Assam University etc. as well as different universities outside Assam like NEHU, Nagaland University, USTM, NLSIU, Bangalore.
Day 2 academic sessions end with a valedictory function in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Kiran Hazarika, Pro Vice Chancellor, IGNOU and Guest of Honour Dr. Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly.
Dr. Numal Momin spoke about the concept of Bharat and its evolution down the ages in his speech. He also talked about the diversity but at the same time we are united culturally and spiritually.
Dr. Kiran Hazarika talked about the ancient glory about Bharat. How has Bharat evolute and assertive nation in the uncertain world. He talked about the NEP and stressed seminars and workshop should have a practical outcome.
Overall the national seminar witnessed fruitful interaction among the presenters, resource persons, chairpersons and the participants through active deliberations and discussions.
